Ajax

I can remember having a conversation about the Ajax and the meta theme. I notice that drupal.org is not putting up the themes for 4.7 anymore. But if you have 4.7 installed it is worth checking-out the meta theme in the repository. From the themes I've seen it raises the bar a bit. The code highlighting functionality could be very useful if anyone's building a community dicussing code.

There was some confusion about Ajax too. A good blog to feed off is the Ajaxian Blog. For instance they recently posted Ajax and your CMS, which is a quick rundown of the present thinking. Also perhaps the space into which drupal needs to move to survive?

UI

The User Interface is one of Drupal's weakest points, but in a way that could be an advantage, as there isn't much legacy stuff to slow us down in creating a really good Ajax UI - that degrades gracefully of course.

Javascript Libraries

I found this interesting survey of Javascript libraries which might be of interest: Ajax Libraries
