Same place, same time, same format. Turn up at the time of your choosing, buy a beer and have a good natter about Drupal. All are welcome, as long as you are involved with Drupal in some way. We're back in the Square Pig and the function room will be refurbished and revamped. The event starts at 7pm and we get thrown out around 11pm. I received lots of positive feedback and suggestions from the previous meet up. The general consensus was that it is best kept presentation-free and used as a chance to have a chat and see what other people are up to with Drupal. For those looking for something more structured or more 'educational' I would highly recommend checking out the 'Drupal for ... ' events organised by Robert.

can I come? lol

You say everyone who's involved in drupal in some way are welcome, I'm a user and I will deffinately be coding my own modules, essentialy I wanna come along to learn as much as I can and just share ideas. Am I welcome?

Related question: possible to lurk?

I can contribute next to nothing and would be lurking, which is not a very friendly thing to do. What happens at a meet-up? Is it possible to lurk in the background without distracting others? Do people give talks or what do they usually do? I hope to move my 1990s Mals-e commerce / Pagemill site to Ubercart / Drupal. Got a test version half installed till today when the screens went blank, so it's very much trial and error. By the way I am looking for someone who can sort problem at low rate per hour, with a few hour's worth of problems at once, not urgent, such as "can you see where I've gone wrong here?" and "can you tell me why that doesn't work?" or even "can you get a basic site working and work from there?" wsod

hi john, you have probably run out of available ram. ubercart is resource intensive and for me produced the wsod white screen of death a few times. the cause? i was running on a shared host and i reckon i was only allotted a max of 64m ram. i am currently hoping to fix this by installing a virtual dedicated server which has promised a minimum of 256m ram. the other thing is to completely remove all unwanted modules. if you have used extensive taxonomy access control, it will also seriously slow the site down and produce wsod...at least it did in my case. good luck ( i still use pagemill for real quickies!)

What happens at a meetup?

What happens at a meetup? You buy a beer, take a deep breath and then talk Drupal with various strangers. So lurking is not really advised. However, we get people at all stages of Drupal use, everything from professional developers through to 'normal people' considering using Drupal or a previous project. Some of the best conversations are with people from a non-drupal background but with expertise in another framework/language; forces us to get out of our very comfortable Drupal bubble and see things from another perspective. If you're more interested in watching presentations than talking then check out some the "drupal for ..." events which are posted on this site when they are organised. Cheers, Neil

Re: Lurking

Lurking and listening is allowed. Lurking and asking questions is allowed (and probably encouraged). Lurking and not buying beer is not... :-)

Thank you all

Thanks, in that case I'll deffinatly be there, I may be able to help others out with my Javascript and Perl knowledge but mainly I just want to be able to ask questions and have a propper chat with a propper person about Drupal, all this forum trawling can be very lonely! I'll look forward to seeing you all there, and of course you won't have to twist my arm to get me to buy a pint or two!
