Drupal Drop In - London

Can't make it to DrupalCon Washington?

Come and meet up with the local community instead at the Drupal Drop In.

** Please note change in location and start time. **

Our Drop In events normally take place at what was, once-upon-a-time, London's first Internet cafe, just behind Goodge street station. The venue is now called Be The Reds, and is part of a Korean chain, so there's the added bonus of a Korean basement bar and restaurant.

If you have some work to show off or tips to demo, please feel free to come along and bask in our admiration. See you there!

This event is now sold out and we have no more room. If you missed out please come to next months one.

BTR

I like BTR because it's very central, so for the many media workers in the area it's a low commitment event (15 minute walk), and there's a bar in the basement so we can actually sit down and have a drink afterwards even if there's 20+ of us.

I'll look for other venues within walking distance in case there are any more problems on the night. Also if people could register on the Eventbrite page I can send out a mass email with any last minute news.

Anyone else want to present or demo?

Presentations

I could present the Superfish alternative(alternative to Suckerfish) for drop down menus. The thing is if presented with the requirement (client: I want drop down menus!!!) you may want to go for one or the other. Things that may encourage you to go for Superfish menus: 1) Are a bit nicer, you get extra visual effects 2) May never have to worry about some of the 60+ different issues of nice menu module not working properly for IE browsers (http://drupal.org/search/node/nice+menu+IE) that nice menu module maintainers had to solve or are still solving There are also drawbacks which will go into the presentation of course. http://drupalwork.interestsphere.com

Superfish

Hey Dan, I'd be very interested to see a presentation on Superfish, and I think a lot of other people would as well.

A comparison with NiceMenus would be really useful.

Possible presentation

There is a possibility that I can present & demo something along the following lines: Securing your digital identity with Drupal At the moment I am awaiting a response - and a token - from the token manufacturer you put me in touch with, so this slot is a To Be Confirmed for now =).

not TBC any more

Views

Would be happy to give an overview of the Views module, especially new functionality within Views 2 such as arguments, relationships, ajax, new interface etc. Anthony

Sounds good

Sounds good, but I suggest narrowing the focus to one aspect of Views 2 - arguments, relationships, ajax or new interface.

Good point!

Would be there all night otherwise. I'll give an overview of using relationships with Views 2.

@robert

Do you know what presentation facilities (projector) will be available on friday and will there be internet/wifi? Just planning talk now. Thanks, Anthony

Friday

I would like to come, but Friday's aren't usually much good for me for work-related meet-ups (it's the weekend!). I prefer a school night (though not the first Thursday of the month, as that's http://www.phplondon.org, nor the second Wednesday, as that's http://www.facebookgarage.org.uk). Maybe next time...
