Wed, 20/04/2011 - 19:00 - 23:00

The first date has been set for Wednesday 20th April at 7pm at the Bridge Hotel, Newcastle NE1 1RQ.

The Venue is the Bridge Hotel, near Newcastle Central Station, so it should be accessible to everyone. The thought behind the initial meet-up is to gauge numbers, find out who we all are and discuss how we'd like to deliver following events so we thought a social meeting in a bar would suffice.

Everything is pretty open right now so any feedback and ideas are very welcome. To let us know you're coming - please register and that way we can keep you up to date with the venue details.

I'm really looking forward to see who comes out of the woodwork and to meet other local people face to face.

 Firstly, a quick apology for

Firstly, a quick apology for the late decision on the venue for the meetup. We can confirm that the first ever Drupal North East User Group meetup will take place at the Bridge Hotel near Newcastle Central Station.

The proceedings will start around 7pm tonight. We’ll make sure to bring some printed logos so you can find you way to us. We'll be posting where we are from the @drupalne Twitter account, so make sure you’re following us!

There isn’t an “official” programme for the first meetup – it is going to be a great chance for us to introduce ourselves to each other, talk about what we’d like to get out of the group, and how it could develop in the future.

Some of the activities suggested so far have been:

  • Demonstrations of projects, modules and themes developed by local Drupal users
  • Training and skill sharing between developers and designers using Drupal
  • Sharing information about other Drupal events
  • Having regional representation at the upcoming Drupalcon London
  • Building trusted relationships between Drupal companies and freelancers to share resources and increase employment within the region

Ultimately it's up to you, just bring your ideas and enthusiasm for Drupal!

We’re really looking forward to meeting you.
