The Oxford Geek Nights are regular (two-monthly) social evenings, which offer a chance for web developers and designers in Oxfordshire to get together, share their skills and talk about new ideas, techniques and technologies. Each OGN has two keynote speakers, and it so happens that OGN15 will have two keynotes about Drupal and RDF.

  • Jeni Tennison, independent consultant and total RDF/XML/XSLT guru, will be discussing data.gov.uk, the new linked data project by the UK government. This is currently in private beta and uses Drupal, EC2 and Talis, among other technologies.
  • Fintan Galvin, whom some of you might have seen at the recent Drupal for Marketing event, will be talking again about RDF and the new opportunities for discoverability and SEO, and how Drupal fits into that.

We'll have drinks sponsored by the Guardian Open Platform, and the venue and infrastructure is sponsored by Torchbox, the Drupal/Django/Rails web development and design company I work for. There'll also be a book raffle sponsored by Apress at the end of the evening, and there's shorter volunteer talks every

The OGNs have been running for nearly three years now, but this is Drupal's first outing there. I'm really glad it's getting an airing and hope it'll gain more traction, and maybe help bring more local Drupalers out of the woodwork. If you're free on Wednesday 25 come along to the Jericho Tavern in Oxford and give Jeni and Fintan some DrupalUK love!
