I'm fairly new to Drupal 7 although experienced with other CMSs.

I'm trying to use the core forum to create a simple forum. My issue is, it works fine on bartic but when I use my own theme the 'Add new forum topic' that would appear above the forum content is no longer there.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to why this is happening please.
