Hello Friends,
I run a blog which is quite heavy due to the database. Due to the bad hosting service I am planning to switch my blog to a uk based http://www.eukhost.com web hosting service. But, what I am thinking is that I want a special drupal hosting plan for my blog and this service provider don't offer any special plan just for drupal. They are just asking me to sign up for their shared hosting plan, which I don't want to.
Is there any other web host that could offer me a special drupal hosting plan? I am looking for an environment which is not shared as on shared server my blog will take load and might affect other websites. Please suggest me some good web hosting company. My target audience is mainly from the united kingdom as I am selling some affiliated products as well. Please help me...
Thanks in advance...
DIY Drupal hosting
Hello Nick,
I wonder whether what you want is ever achievable. If you have a lot of database activity and you need to optimise it then maybe you need to be renting whole machines - perhaps Amazon EC2 instances, or similar - and deploying Drupal yourself with an experienced system administrator.
There are hosting companies with experience of Drupal, but are you not really going to be in the same situation as before? You need to figure out where the system bottlenecks are - and a hositng company is not going to do that for you.
Specification -> VPS
Hi Nick,
It seems that you may need to invest in a VPS and either do the sys admin yourself, or get a managed server? If you are looking at drupal based server packages then I would recommend:
But these take some system admin knowledge. Alternatively you could use Acquia/Pantheon/Omega8cc or a whole other host of specific Drupal hosting companies, but as far as I am aware there are no UK based Drupal hosting options, as although I host drupal projects, I only host projects that I have developed and don't allow others to change/edit code on sites without permission.
If you get further info I am sure it would be of use to others.
