How to install new themes

I am newbie to druapl.I tried to install a theme and I am having the error code "Cannot extract temporary://acquia_marina-6.x-2.0.tar_.gz, not a valid archive.". Can anyone tell me what I should do, pease.

I am using latest version of joomla.

Unzipping

Helo the failure is not with your Drupal  - it's with your download and its unzipping

You may need to:

download the theme again

download a new archive tool.

I like Peazip and its free

 Oi! your developer has obviously played a practical joke on you as you are "....using the latest version of Joomla" which unfortunately will not use Drupal themes.

What should you do : Either you go pay him his rightful fees or go kick his ass .

Hello Abhikerl,

Installing a new theme is very simple. Please following below steps:

  1. Download a new theme package. Note that themes for different Drupal versions are not compatible, version 5.x themes do not work with Drupal 6.x and reverse.
  2. Upload the contents of the theme package to a new directory in the themesdirectory in your Drupal site. In Drupal 5.x & 6.x, you place your themes in/sites/all/themes/yourThemeName
  3. Click administer » themes and enable the new theme (Drupal will auto-detect its presence).
  4. Edit your user preferences and select the new theme. If you want it to be the default theme for all users, check the default box in the themes administration page.
