How to start a local group

Hi y'all.

I've just signed-up here, thanks for setting it all up.
Seems like Drupal users groups aren't quite as popular in UK as in some other countries.
Let's hope that is changing.

I wondered how I would go about setting up a local group for my area - Bournemouth, Dorset.

Can anyone give me any pointers, please?

let me know what geographic area you'd like to promote your group as covering and we can set up a user group section on this site for you. Look at this example:

County Drupal

I quite like the idea of each county having it's own Drupal user group, we're certainly getting popular enough for that to happen.

Dorset User Group

Done - Dorset User Group is now live and you're the maintainer.

I've got a soft spot for Bournmouth because I was born there and lived a few years in Poole.

I'll try and get some old mates to go the meetups.

Hey, it's great to hear a user group is sprouting up in Dorset, good luck with it :)

I have a personal fondness for Dorset as I spent a year near Sturminster Newton!

I'm also in Dorset and think it would be great to have a group here. I have a friend who's also pretty good with Drupal over in Christchurch and I spend my time sometimes in Dorchester and sometimes in Southbourne.

One big problem though with your group...... You've not enabled people to comment on it so there's been nearly 300 views but no one is able to post to it. Not sure who's got access to the controls on the group but hopefully by posting here one or other of you can get that fixed?

Let me know when anyone is up for getting together and where please ....

Thanks for your post.
I have emailed Robert (site admin) who suggests creating a post about having a meet-up .
Comments on the main group page would become unwieldy.

So I'll do that shortly.
