It would be good to have more drupal forums to chat about drupal in general. I wanted to post this somewhere: I'd like a place that I can talk in broader terms about what would be nice to have. Perhaps where Web2.0 is going and whether Drupal will survive that--- once some of the big players catch up. Integration with the blogshere etc... I'm also interested in the concepts of community. The sociology and the psychology associated with this sort of thing. Which might not belong here. But it might be nice to see people's broad interests on their profiles. This can be handy for drupal projects too, for example converting lots of static html might be faster if you knew a perl programmer... Andy.

Ideas

We need to decide on uses for the forums on this site - any suggestions?

My ideas so far:
  • Suggest a feature Talk about improvements to this site
  • Events Discuss event planning. Once an event is announced it will have it's own page to hold a discussion on, but in the initial stages we can talk about an event on the forum.
  • General chat Being Brits we need somewhere to talk about the weather and other off-topic, non-Drupal stuff ;-)
  • Drupal (Online/Offline) Not exactly the right title, have to think of something better..... Forum area to start topics to be discussed at meetings, and then carry on the conversation after the meeting.

The last one is tricky as we want to avoid overlapping with the main Drupal site, drupal.org. So all questions should be asked there first, but I think it's fair enough to have conversations here if they are part of what we discuss at meetings.

I often post on drupal.org asking for help but some of the time that help never appears. In those cases I drop in here annd badger you lot lol.

So a mini Q & A sub section would be handy.

My two penneth worth.

Q&A section

I think if we made a specific Q&A section some people would use it instead of the main drupal.org site, which we want to avoid. If you've already asked at the mothership and got no responce it's fine to come and ask here though.

Comment Notify

Is there a notification option anywhere for new posts/comments on this site? If not, can it be added please? There are a number of contrib modules that could enhance functionality, i think http://drupal.org/project/comment_notify would do it.

Is Comment notify what this site is now using? Actually it would be useful/educational to have a (automatic?) listing of the modules in use here.

Yes, we have Comment Notify up and running here.
