That's awesome, it's a fantastic venue :) Only thing is the only other people I know so far are all based in Leeds though so it might make more sense to find somewhere there. Would you mind if I have a look around Leeds first Matt and get back to you? Also - when you organised Drupal7 Camp at old broadcasting house, was there a fee to use it then? I was thinking of asking them.

Old Broadcasting House

When we organised that DrupalCamp last year at Old Broadcasting house, we got sponsorship from various small agencies, plus NTi Leeds helped out too.  So that may be a good idea... depends on numbers.  They may be interested in doing this again.  One thing I would say is let people know well in advance.

We host the LeedsPHP events

We host the LeedsPHP events at The Adelphi. It's £10 an hour to have the venue, but we could look for sponsorship.

 

They also do great food and is pretty central to Leeds.

Sponsorship for a Drupal Yorkshire event

Curve Agency are a Drupal shop on The Calls, Leeds. They will sponsor an event such as a DrupalCamp in Leeds. Please let me know if anyone is interested in getting something organised for this Yorkshire Drupal group.

Was any further progress made in getting a local meet up going?

I'd be keen to meet local Drupal folk to broaden my contacts and knowledge. Over beers maybe?

I'm in Ilkley myself if anybody wants to meet up.

Hi Matt, I think we met at DrupalCon in London - Fairfield Halls in Croydon, at the bar if I remember correctly??? 

Do you fancy meeting for a beer with a view to getting something off the ground in Leeds or Bradford? 

How about one month in Leeds, the next month in Bradford?

Getting a Drupal meet up organised in Leeds

Hi there Paul and Matt,

We (Curve Agency) are looking to sponsor, host and help organise a Drupal get together in Leeds early 2013. We have loads of space in our office on The Calls. Let's get it going

Let's make it a regular date like first or second Tuesday every month. Personally I think it should be somewhere near Leeds Station, enabling people from York, Harrogate, Wakefield, Bradford, Doncaster and Sheffield to participate easily.

January at The Brewery Tap

That sounds good Paul, how about The Brewery Tap for starters in Jan? It's about 20 seconds fron Leeds station, and does good beer! How does Tuesday, January 8th sound as a first meet up?

Tuesday 8th is good for me

The Brewery Tap looks a good spot. I like that it has a room upstairs which could be used for presentations, once we get rolling. Do they have WiFi?

Whether they do or not I certainly looks like a good place to start. Shall we say 6.30 for 7pm?

I'm up for it.

Couple of things to note. Brewery Tap charge £10 an hour for the room (that's what they charged me for LeedsPHP). Also, they do not have a projector upstairs anymore so you'd need to source one if you're planning on doing presentations.

Brewery Tap confirmed

OK, let's confirm Tuesday 8th 6:30 for 7pm start, Brewery Tap, Leeds. Not sure if there is any point in booking a room yet. At least we'll get an idea of numbers.
